Hexagonal Golden Cup and Saucer

Unearthed from Zhu Xiyan’s Tomb, Xiuning County, Anhui Province in 1952

The cup and saucer are hexagonal. The mouth and ring foot of the cup are decorated with thunder and lightning design. In the bottom of the cup is engraved the design of three water chestnuts with rings. On the mouth of the saucer is engraved with delicate continuous thunder and lightning design; outside the bottom of the saucer is decorated with continuous rhomboid forms; inside the bottom of the saucer is decorated with six sets of double-line braided S-shaped design, which implies “Everything goes as you wish.”
