Fan Qi (courtesy name Huigong, latter changed to Qiagong) was born in Jiangning (present Nanjing, Jiangsu Province) in the 44th year of the Wanli Reign, Ming Dynasty (1616). He was still alive in the 33rd year of the Kangxi Reign, Qing Dynasty (1694), when he was 79 years old. He was good at landscape, figure and flower painting and was known as one of the “Eight Masters of Jinling”.
