The courtesy name of Li Fangying (1695-1755) was Qiuzhong and his art name was Qingjiang. He was skilled in painting pine, orchid, bamboo and plum; and his paintings were simple and vigorous, lively and unique.

Double Pines, painted in 1753, was his work in the later years, which imitated the painting style of Xu Wei (art name “Old Man Qingteng”). In the painting, two pines stand side by side, their branches and leaves interlacing with each other. The shape of the trees is strange; the strokes are powerful, and the ink is thick. All shows special charm. The colophon of the painting is “by Qingjiang /Li Fangying of Nantong state, painted in Jinling in the 18th year of the Qianlong Reign”.
