Xuan paper with tiger-stripe pattern is a specially processed Xuan paper in Qing dynasty. It has many colors like light grey, light green, pink, light yellow, sky blue. To produce it, people would choose raw Xuan paper of good quality, work into it potassium alum and then dye it in various shades of colors in the shape of tiger stripes. After processing, the paper looks brilliant and florid. With a stiffer texture, it is will not cause the ink on it to blur, which makes it more suitable for Gongbi (elaborate and realistic style) painting and calligraphy of regular and official scripts.
