Yuan Jiang (courtesy name Wentao) was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. His year of birth or death was unknown. Apart from studying with Qiu Ying in his early years, he also learned from the masters in the Song Dynasty. He was skilled in landscape painting, and in his works the architectures and sceneries were neat and well-proportioned. He was a master of architecture drawing and worked in Hall of Mental Cultivation during the Yongzheng reign.
