      Yuan Jiang (courtesy name Wentao) was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. His year of birth or death was unknown. Apart from studying with Qiu Ying in his early years, he also learned from the masters in the Song Dynasty. He was skilled in landscape painting, and in his works the architectures and sceneries were neat and well-proportioned. He was a master of architecture drawing and worked in Hall of Mental Cultivation during the Yongzheng reign. On the painting is a colophon “Painted in ancient style by Yuan Jiang of Hanshang in March, the year of Bingshen, the Kangxi Reign”. The year of Bingshen, the Kangxi Reign was the 55th year of the Kangxi reign (1716). Hanshang (also known as Han river) was
