Unearthed from Marquis Cai’s tomb in Ximen, Shou county, Anhui province in 1955

The bronze bell set of Marquis Cai consists 8 bells with different size, and this one is the 7th. All the bells have fretwork in the inverted-cup-shaped knob. The decoration of the bells are similar with those of the chime bells. There are four bells with clear inscriptions,each with 12 lines of 82 characters. The bell set is named “Yange Bell”, and is for Marquis Cai’s daily use. It is a musical instrument similar to “Xing Zhong”.
