Unearthed from Marquis Cai’s tomb in Shou county, Anhui province in 1955

The basin has an upright mouth, foliated edge and square rim. On its neck symmetrically place two beast ears, each holding a loose ring. Inside the basin carved 52 characters in eight lines. The basin was a dowry made by Prince Guang of Wu for his third daughter Ji Sixu when she married Marquis Cai. Inscribed on it are “Jian Jian”(?). It is of great value to the research of the relationship between vassal states during the Spring and Autumn period.
